This week the children in Nursery have been beginning to mark make and using their name cards to develop a recognition of their own name.
The children have begun the HeartSmart wellbeing unit of 'Introducing Boris' and have listened to the story of Boris the Robot. This week they started work on creating their own Boris, using junk modelling materials.
We have also been balancing on the rope swing and catching bubbles.

This week, as part of our 'Moon Zoom' topic, we have enjoyed listening to a song to help us to learn about the planets. We learned Venus is the hottest planet.
We have also been using junk to make model rockets. The children had design criteria to follow that said it must be shiny, have a window and have flames. The children chose the resources and tools that they needed to make their rockets and rose to the challenge! More photos

We have been learning more about: Vincent van Gogh, Christopher Columbus, Emmeline Pankhurst, Rosa Parks and Mary Anning and Henry VII. We used diamond ranking to decide who we felt was the most significant person and explain why by considering their impact on the world. The children had some really thoughtful responses!

This week the Woodpeckers have been exploring electricity. Having first thought about the different types of devices that use electricity around the house we set out to see if we could make our own electrical circuits. Using teamwork, we investigated different ways we could combine cables, cells, bulbs and switches - we even tried to get a buzzer to work!
Our teamwork also played an essential part during PE, where we had to guide our partners around an obstacle course blindfolded. More photos

There was some very ambitious building work going on in the Year 3 Forest School session this week with a recreation of Whitby harbour, complete with cranes!
We were also excited to see some unplanned oak tree saplings emerging on the site. This prompted a discussion about, and a hunt for acorns! See more photos here

Forest school has mainly been about bugs and blackberries since we came back to school. We have enjoyed identifying and picking blackberries from the hedge and then using their juice to make pictures and prints.

Lost property
This weekend, please check the uniform you have belongs to your child and is labelled with their name. If you have accidentally ended up with another child's uniform please hand it into the office, and we will help reunite it with the owner.
We're noticing unnamed items of clothing, lunch bags and bottles. Please check name labels are still stuck on and name pen has not faded. Thank you for your help.
