Year 1 News

In computing, Year 1 have continued to explore different artists with the focus this week on Georges Seurat.  We looked at how he created his paintings using pointillism which is using tiny dots.  We then created our own paintings choosing the correct tools that would give us this same effect.

Year 2 News

Year 2 had a very special afternoon on Thursday!  We were invited by Churches Together in Daventry to their special Easter Interactive event at Daventry Methodist Church.  We were lucky to be part of a retelling of the events during Holy Week leading up to Easter day.  The children really enjoyed themselves and were grateful to receive some small gifts to remind them of their experience.  They all listened beautifully during the activities and represented the school wonderfully.  Well done Year 2.  Our photo gallery

Badgers have continued to investigate friction forces this week.  We used a ramp set up to test the friction of different surfaces.  We have been continuing to learn different shapes in PE.  Year 3 have also been continuing to construct their greenhouses.

Year 4 News

Inspired by the work of Howard Carter from last week, Woodpeckers have been talking about how the Egyptians might have built their tombs and monuments.  With this in mind we experimented with gears, pulleys and levers to see if we could develop an understanding of how they can be used to give us a ‘mechanical advantage’ to lift a heavier weight.  Find out more about our learning

Forest School News

We stayed at our school site for Year 4's Forest School session this week as we wanted to do some fire lighting and cooking.  The children had a go at making a spark with the 'dragon's sneezes' and then tried to catch that spark to set light to a ball of cotton wool.  There was a lot of determination and perseverance in evidence!  We rewarded our efforts by toasting marshmallows on the fire and making smores.  Yum!  See our photo gallery
