Year 1 have started looking at a new topic in art called ‘Funny Faces’.  Comparisons were made of different portraits and the children discussed which ones they liked and disliked.  

We have drawn our own self-portraits and made collages of funny faces.  A variety of techniques are being reflected through our use of sewing, stapling and glueing of facial features on a fabric face we are now making.  Our photo gallery.

Year 2 have been looking at royal portraits this week.  We looked closely at the facial expressions, poses, clothing, objects and background.  We thought about the messages they were trying to send within the portraits.  The children really enjoyed observing the images closely.

Woodpeckers have enjoyed applying their science understanding in two different forms of learning this week.  In PE, we worked in small groups to choreograph a dance to depict the different states of matter, thinking carefully about the different dynamics and formations we could use to show solids, liquids and gases.  Find out here what experiment we are doing.

A group of children from Year 3 took part in a Northamptonshire Sport gymnastics competition on Monday.  They have spent the last few weeks learning a floor routine, conditioning routine and a vault and this week they performed them to some judges. 

The children were amazing and tried hard to remember the gymnastics routines despite being very nervous.  Well done all for taking up the opportunity, representing the school and for all the practice put in.
