Thank you for all your donations to this year’s Harvest Collective Worship. All the received items will be making their way to the Daventry Food Bank where they'll be gratefully received ready to distribute to individuals and families within our community.
On Wednesday morning we spent time together as a whole school and learned why it is so important to recognise the work carried out by everyone involved in the annual harvest. We gave thanks to God for providing us with this wonderful world that we are entrusted to care for. During our collective worship we also learnt that different countries around the world have their own celebrations linked with the harvest of food native to them and their agricultural calendars.
The Year 5 children that represented their class in leading the event did a fantastic job presenting their Harvest knowledge to the rest of the school. Well done!

This week Hedgehogs have been busy sharing their knowledge of autumn and beginning to learn about characteristics of woodland animals. They have also been drawing bouquets using pastels for the first time, really thought about colour choices and blending materials. It is exciting to see so much interest in writing and mark making alongside our fabulous phonics recall. Well done Hedgehogs! Our photo gallery

In PE, Rabbit Class have been exploring movement, shapes and balances as part of our gymnastics unit. The children have been practising some gymnastic shapes including tuck, pike, straddle, arch and dish. The children first explored doing the movements on the floor before applying them to the apparatus. We then moved on to learn some jumps and rolls and finally this week we put it all together to create some sequences. Photo gallery

Christmas came early for the whole school this week as we were gifted an array of toys and craft sets by Sophia and her family!
Sophia was recently shopping with her parents and thought the other children at school would also enjoy the toys and it would be a nice thing to buy some for our school, as she has been learning about kindness. Thank you to the Wright family for your generous donation. We're sure it will provide much fun and entertainment across the whole school!

Year 2 have been learning about mechanisms this half-term with Mrs Brock. They now know that a machine is made up of components and the part that creates movement is called the mechanism. They have learned about different types of mechanism including sliders, levers and linkages. Everyone has had good fun making their own moving mechanisms. Next term we will apply this learning for a festive purpose - watch the space! Photo gallery

We have continued to build our knowledge of rocks in science. This week we have been looking at metamorphic and sedimentary rock through chocolate experiments! Obviously, we resisted eating any of the chocolate but instead used it to explore how rocks are formed. Find out more and see our photos

We have come to the end of our Fundamentals unit in PE and put all of our skills to the test in a carousel of activities that involved balance, speed and agility, as well as team work and our favourite: skipping. In RE, our People of God unit finished with some “trust” games to test our trust in each other, in the same way that Christians put their trust and faith in God. Year 4 photo gallery

Our DT sessions have seen us design and cook our soups and bake some tasty bread to accompany it and in our science lessons we revisited the structure of plants and dissected some flowers to extract the male and female components that allow them to fertilise and potentially produce edible produce.
