Our Ethos

‘Nurturing all to flourish and aspire’

We know that where children feel safe and loved, they flourish.  At Monksmoor Park CE Primary School we have created a respectful school culture where all members of the community are welcomed and valued.  As a Church school, our ethos is aligned with the Church of England’s vision for education;

‘We aim to deliver excellence in education and want the very best outcomes for children and young people so that they can achieve their fullest potential.  With many schools reporting that they feel under increasing pressure to make artificial choices between academic rigour and the wellbeing of their pupils, we are unequivocal in our message that there is no such distinction – a good education must promote life in all its fullness.’

Church of England Vision for Education (2016)

We go far beyond the expectations of the National Curriculum and provide all our children opportunities to enrich their education.  One such experience is Forest School, an integral part of our curriculum.  It is a valuable opportunity for our children as it develops their confidence, self-esteem, perseverance, creativity and imagination. It also offers the opportunity for awe and wonder as children are able to experience the peace, beauty and calm that can be found outdoors.

Every adult at Monksmoor recognises the importance of forming positive, respectful relationships and we invest heavily in staff training to ensure we have the skills needed to meet the needs of each and every child.  We work in partnership with parents and carers and are there to support our families through life’s highs and lows.

High expectations are a feature not only of achievement, but also of behaviour.  We carefully monitor the progress of our children and are quick to support those who are finding it difficult to keep up with the demands of our curriculum expectations.  Discrimination and bullying is not accepted and whilst we accept we live in a world where we do not always make the right choices, we teach children tolerance, respect and understanding throughout our curriculum and tackle poor behaviour with a consistent and fair approach.

All visitors to our school receive a warm welcome and often comment on the ‘family feel’ when walking around the building.  We support each other in time of need and celebrate our successes together.  We work hard to maintain this ethos as we welcome new members to our growing school and continue to ‘Nurture all to flourish and aspire’.
