This week Woodpeckers have started a new English unit based on the picture book “Float”.  In the story a young boy builds a paper boat and sets off on an adventure to sail it during a storm.  We decided to experience what the boy might feel by making our very own Origami boat.  We found it quite tricky to begin with, but through persistence and patience we had a flotilla of ships.  Thanks to our friends in Nursery we also got to see if our boats actually worked with a visit to the outdoor space to sail our ships.

In maths, we have started to think about length and the most appropriate unit of measurement for different scenarios and in computing we have come to the end of our programming unit where we have been using repeat loops and named procedures to create some wonderful patterns using an on-screen turtle.
