Year 4 - Back in the swing of things
The Woodpeckers have really got into the “swing” of things at the start of term! Our new unit for PE is hockey and Year 4 loved using the new hockey sticks to practise their push passes to each other out on the MUGA. We learnt that you can only use the flat face of the hockey stick as well as the rule that the stick must not be above waist height during our practise sessions.
In English we continue our narrative writing based on the picture book 'Flow' and in maths we have just completed a unit looking at perimeters of 2D shapes.
In Topic, Woodpeckers have been comparing what they have learnt about the Romans in Year 3 and the Ancient Sumer civilisation, last term, to new information about Ancient Egyptians. Mr Gatehouse was really impressed with Leila, who brought in her very own information booklet that she made following the lesson and shared with the class which is full of interesting facts and her own drawings linked to the topic.
