Forest School - At a slower pace to watch snails race
Year 4 had the opportunity to make their own wands this week in Forest School which involved some tool work. First, they made sure their wand was the right length by using secateurs if necessary. They then used a peeler to strip off the bark and could use a round ended knife to 'point' the end of their wand if desired. The wands were then further customised with the use of pens, wool and feathers. We were all really pleased with the results and enjoyed trying them out!
In Year 2, what started off as an observation of snails quickly became a snail race and then a taste test challenge where lots of delicious treats were offered to the snails to see which one they'd move towards to enjoy! There was a lot of excitement when one broke free and started its descent down the side of the stump - would its' 'stick' be strong enough to get it safely to the ground?! Ask us to find out what happened!
