Year 5 focus on farming
This week Dragonflies have been extending their knowledge of the impact the different climate zones have on the types of farming that can be sustained. We focused our learning on North and South America and considered how not only the weather, but also the terrain and soil type changes the productivity of crops and rearing livestock.
In English we have researched our chosen person that we will be writing our biographies about next week. In maths we have been ordering fractions and looking how to convert fractions to make our calculations simpler; we have also worked in small groups and applied our wider maths skills to try to solve a mystery to identify a firework. In art we have continued to look at the use of different tones and shades and in Science we have reviewed our learning about the planets by comparing their relative sizes using different fruits!
