Year 5 play Jazz
This week Dragonflies have focussed their learning on the wonder of our solar system. We have looked at the complex relationship between night and day and the Earth spinning on its axis, how our seasons are dictated by the Earth’s orbit around the Sun and the 23.5 degree tilt at which the Earth sits. Building on this we thought about the different shapes of the moon that we might see in the night’s sky and identified waxing and waning crescents based on the position on the moon as it travels around the planet we call home.
On Tuesday Year 5 showcased their musical skills and shared their learning with the rest of the school by performing a set of different Jazz pieces. These pieces were introduced to the audience with the background of their origins before set pieces were played with sections of improvisation. In art we have applied our understanding of tints and tones to a selection of different artists.
