We provide all children with an immersive, rich stimulating safe environment in which to flourish, problem solve, collaborate and grow.  We ignite curiosity and joy in learning building strong values and foundations for moving on through school from individual starting points.

Integral to this is strong Communication and Language.  Evidence based research such as by the Education Endowment Fund shows that children’s language development benefits from approaches that explicitly support communication through talking, verbal expression, modelling language and reasoning.  Our communication friendly environment both indoors and outdoors promotes rich language and we deepen vocabulary through interactive experience, always starting with the child.

We believe communication is key, using wide ranging resources for inclusivity, high quality texts and adult interaction to promote discussion, stimulate talk and a lifelong love of reading.  Since opening we have assessed children entering school in Early Years using the Wellcomm Speech and Language toolkit on entry to deliver approaches tailored to need.

We also use the Word Aware programme in our EYFS settings and the Nuffield Early Language Intervention programme (NELI) and Language Screen.  We are proud of our assessment approach, early identification of need and intervention programmes developing vocabulary and oral skills.  We recognise these show positive benefits for young children’s learning, across the curriculum developing spoken language skills, their expressive vocabulary and supporting early reading skills, helping all to achieve their potential and flourish.
