Year 1 tackle the Great Fire of London
‘The Great Fire of London’ has been a focus in Year 1. We used role-play to help us to remember some of the key facts. We started by making bread in the bakery in Pudding Lane, but a spark caused a fire to start. We added flames to the houses that were built very close together to show the fire spreading. We used ribbons to recreate the windy weather which helped the fire to spread. We tried to put out the fire by collecting water from the River Thames using buckets. Finally, the wind died down and we used gunpowder to blow up a building to create a fire break. The children had great fun acting out the events and were able to retell many of the key facts.
