Badgers Class has had a busy few weeks, firstly with our school trip to Daventry Museum to learn about the Romans. We were lucky to see real Roman coins, which we could study through a magnifying glass. We also dug for treasure and designed our own coins. When we returned to school we continued our learning designing shields, researching what Roman inventions we still use and looking at their expansion across Europe. It was a day filled with Roman learning.

In English writing we have started a new book - 'Fox' by Margaret Wild and Ron Brooks. We have been working on building our vocabulary to prepare us for writing a fable narrative and an information leaflet. Through this reading and writing we have been considering friendships and trust.

In maths we started a new topic learning about length and perimeter. This has us considering how we would measure things in our classroom e.g. a ruler (cms/mms) or a metre stick.

We welcomed Mr and Mrs Wakelin to our class to hang bird boxes around the school grounds. We are hoping that we will see Blue Tits or Great Tits nest in some of them! Thank you to Mr and Mrs Wakelin for making the bird boxes and installing them for us.

As part of World Book Day we enjoyed music played by Scotland's National Orchestra whilst a story was read. The event named 'Once upon a Tune' brought us on a magical journey of hidden cathedrals, princesses and bumblebees!

Finally, in RE we learned about Mar Galcerán from Spain who has become the country’s first elected parliamentarian with Down's Syndrome. We found her inspirational so wrote to her to award her a SHINE award for being exemplary.
