Year 2 - Plant dissection
This term in science Year 2 have been learning about plants. We have set up an investigation to find out what conditions plants need to grow healthily - we planted seeds and left some in the window, some in the dark, and some in the fridge! Some have been watered and some haven't. We made predictions about which seeds would grow best and are monitoring them each week. This week we have also learned the parts of a plant and dissected real plants to identify their parts and their functions, creating some beautiful work to show our understanding.
Last week we enjoyed our Jewish visitor who spoke to us about Hanukkah which was a great opportunity to revisit our RE learning from the Autumn Term. The children recalled their prior knowledge really well and enjoyed their sweet treats at the end whilst listening to Hanukkah music.
We also enjoyed a visit from the Northamptonshire Fire Service, we learned facts about the fire engines and how they help people. We finished with a demonstration of the hoses and we each got a turn too!
